According to My Watch, I Walked Lots and Lots

Today, I wandered the city streets from nine a.m. until three p.m., covering almost eleven miles without venturing even one mile or so from my front door in any direction. It sure didn’t feel like six hours. It’s as though I was sleepwalking, but I was definitely awake and alert. I remember a remarkable amount of what I saw in superfine detail. That’s something like Zen for you.
I’ve been working out my new Viltrox AF 56mm ƒ/1.4 pretty hard, and I can vouch that it’s a solid lens. While not as bright,1 snappy, or sharp as my Fujifilm lenses, it costs a third of the price for about 60-75% of the niceness. And the lens has a lot of character. My only complaint is the aperture ring doesn’t click or lock, so it’s easy to bump and rub it to a different setting you aren’t expecting. I’ll keep banging on this lens for a while, but I expect I’ll upgrade to the Fujinon 56mm ƒ/1.2 sooner rather than later. It’s a fun focal length.

The internet experts will tell you there’s no such thing as a “bright” lens aside from whatever the largest ƒ/stop affords, and I’m certainly no optical physicist to argue with them, but I definitely own bright lenses and not-so-bright lenses. ↩
