It burns my eyes and makes me cough
It seems like only yesterday I was complaining about the heat and humidity. A lot can change in 24 hours. Now I’m complaining about the heat and humidity AND THE SMOKE!
Canadian wildfires. As usual.
Well, it didn’t used to be usual for Canadian wildfires to be so large that the smoke traveled all the way to New Jersey, but here we are. Reeking of what we’ve sown. It looks like things will get worse before they get better.
Fortunately, I happen to have some pretty good HEPA filters meant specifically for smoke. I bought them a few years ago when the wildfire smoke was so thick that the sky turned muddy red.
Speaking of fiddling while Rome burns, today I tried smoked oysters for the very first time. I’m going to eat so many of them in the future. Fantastic. I’m having a dram of Laphroaig 10 year Scotch whisky to wash them down.1 Today has a bit of a theme.
And I added a video player to this here blog. In theory, it doesn’t share any of your information with YouTube (Google) unless and until you hit the play button. You can also opt-in to just letting the player load all the time. That’s what I do, but it’s fun to encourage and enable tools that support user privacy in the age of Surveillance Capitalism.
