Lookie here, another blog post

It’s 18°C this morning. I’m drinking a bottled cold brew. It is far too strong. I’ll feel anxious for hours without actually being anxious. I’m sitting in a chair by an open window. I’m wearing a light sweatshirt — a sweatshirt! Summer is on the back foot and will soon be forced into full retreat.

I got a message saying my new studio lights are out for delivery. That’s exciting. I hope they’re awesome. I spent a lot of money on them. I ordered a copy of Project Hail Mary on Blu-ray, which is also out for delivery. Perhaps, if work doesn’t wear me out, I’ll have a movie night this weekend.

I have a private newsletter for this blog. I manage the mailing list manually, so it’s easier to keep it to only friends and family.1 But I don’t actually have the time or energy to send an email out every time I post something. The very idea puts me off posting. I have to write the thing, edit the thing, post the thing, then write another thing to tell people I wrote a thing, edit that thing, and finally send the thing out to all of 10 people. I’m having a panic attack even thinking about it.2

In the interest of automating some of these new-post notifications, I created an RSS feed here.3 Most people don’t use RSS readers anymore, so lots of sites stopped generating feeds for them, but RSS is a great format for humans and machines alike. You can learn more about RSS feeds and readers here.

Going forward, I will limit the mailing-list newsletters to a digest once or twice a week.

Footnotes

  1. Send me a text if you’re friends or family and want to be added.

  2. It’s probably just the coffee.

  3. Technically, Claude Code created the RSS feed functionality. And it did it inside of 5 minutes. So, there’s the future for you.
