It’s Been a While, Possibly a Bit

I’m overdue for a blog post, but I’m short on time and energy. I didn’t sleep well last night, which left me tired all day. Possibly I’m getting old, too. Summer is slowly winding down. Cooler weather will find me on my bicycle more. Getting fit. Or thereabouts. Sleeping better. Etc.

I moved my little basement art studio around. It’s much easier to work down there now. I work on a little something most days. I don’t have anything I’m willing to show for it yet. Maybe soon.

I’m waiting on some color-corrected lightbulbs to arrive in the mail. There isn’t much natural light in the basement. LED lights tend to have a poor Color Rendering Index (CRI). They’re particularly bad at reds, and I love red. The lights I ordered are marketed specifically for art studios. Expensive, but not outlandishly so.

Not only is the studio dark, it’s filthy. The house was built at the turn of the 20th century, and the basement hasn’t been cleaned since. Dust and grime are everywhere. I’m not sure it’s possible to actually get it clean at this point, but I’ll do what I can, a bit at a time.

I’m still taking photos, although not as much in the heat and humidity. I don’t like it. The birds don’t like it either. I’m thinking of going back to black and white for a few years, but I’m not committed to the idea. I’ll stick to color when photographing birds, though. Maybe one of these days I’ll get around to learning to photograph people.

I better move along. I have laundry to fold. My dryer was broken for a couple of weeks. The weather has been so humid my laundry simply would not line-dry in a reasonable time, even with a fan blowing directly on it. All of my clothes have that funky clean laundry left in a damp washing machine smell. A replacement dryer was installed yesterday. I’ve been rewashing and drying my clothes all day.

P.S. I deleted my Bluesky account. It was boring. No Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, X, Reddit, Tumblr, or any of that either.
