Even Unto the Last Drip
The morning is met by steady, soaking rains. A chill drifts in through open windows. A blue jay jays from her tree across the way. My tinnitus fills the background with a high-pitched ringing, nearly the same volume as the rainfall.
My second pour-over coffee is perfect. I didnโt measure.
The skylight over the kitchen sink is leaking again. Most of the drips fall directly into the drain. One such drip dropped dead center into my first pour-over coffee before Iโd even taken a sip. Or did it fall harmlessly nearby? Safer to start over.
The skylight has already been repaired twice this year. Hopefully, third timeโs the charm. Rainy days and sunny summer afternoons aside, having a skylight in the kitchen is great.
The workday beckons.
