I’ve been doing a lot of experiments with chatbots, particularly around running long conversational threads across days and even weeks. I’m telling you, LLMs are doing something a lot closer to thinking than people want to believe. Sooner or later, the engineers training them will have to start talking about it. Real-life has wandered well into the realm of sci-fi. But we knew this was coming, which is why there’s so much sci-fi about it.
