Enough with the Clocks Already

The changing of the seasons (along with the changing of the clocks) has me wrecked this year. I wake up. Maybe I go for a walk. I do a couple of chores. Fire up the computer and remote into the office. The workday ends around 5 p.m., give or take 15-30 minutes. It’s dark outside. My brain decides it’s time for bed. I haven’t even had dinner yet. I spend the next few hours trying to stay awake long enough to go to bed at a reasonable time. I get nothing done, and no rest and can’t relax. It’s miserable.
I suppose I’m describing a textbook case of advanced sleep phase disorder or something similar. I ordered one of those 12,000 lux light therapy lamps a moment ago. It comes well reviewed and HSA approved, if any of that means anything. The lamp won’t be delivered until next week; in the meantime, I’ve turned on every light in the house, and I’m drinking Coca-Cola at 7:30 p.m. It’s possible there’s a shot of vodka in it. Or two.
