Guess Who Saw a Frog

I’ve spent the last couple of years shooting JPEGs and keeping my editing to a minimum. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it. It seemed like a fun challenge at the time. The plan was to spend a month on it, or something like that, but I wound up doing this exercise for so long that I forgot I was even doing it. Today, I’m going back to shooting in RAW format like a normal person.
I have tomorrow off. I plan to head out to the river bright and early in the morning to take some pictures of herons. A bald eagle has been hanging around the spot, too. We came eyeball-to-eyeball at ten paces the other day. He was high up in a tree. I was atop a steep hill immediately next to the tree. An unanticipated equilibrium of heights was upon us. He was huge. Claws the size of my hand.
Sunrise will be at six-nineteen tomorrow. I’d need to be out of the house by five forty-five to make it to the spot in time for golden hour. I don’t think I’ll do that. Instead, I’m aiming for something closer to seven. Or seven thirty. Maybe I’ll sleep in, instead.
In a more perfect world, I’d spend nearly all of my time outside, walking around in nature and taking pictures. I’m seriously considering moving out to the woods. But not this year. I officially renewed my lease today, so I will be staying put a while longer.
