The house was 19.5°C this morning. I turned the heat up. That won’t help. I keep the thermostat set to a constant 22°C. The intense cold is overwhelming the radiators’ capacity. With a little luck, the afternoon will warm up enough for the radiators to overtake the chill and get the place toasty by evening. I’m gambling the extra warmth will keep the place from getting too cold overnight.
I didn’t get to the river today. It was bitter cold, but I’m not bothered by that. However, the temperatures were below my camera’s certified operating threshold. It probably would have been fine, but better safe than out $5,000 in kit, right?
Instead, I made a quick trip into the city for art supplies. Gloss acrylic medium. Acrylic flow release medium. And a big tube of yellow ochre paint. On my way home, I stopped by the gourmet shop on Haddon Ave, intent on buying fancy French butter with rock salt for the baguette I planned to buy from the bakery across the street. From the door, I could see the gourmet shop was too crowded, so I went directly to the bakery, but they didn’t have any baguettes left.
Now I’m drinking a giant can of Founder’s Dirty Bastard ale. It’s like sipping on brown bread. 8.5% ABV, brown bread, that is. A nap will soon follow. One has to pace oneself. I’m trying to give myself a lazy Saturday each week, where I try my best not to get anything done, even if my apartment is a mess or the world is falling apart.
