I want to get outside for a long walk before the snow arrives. Tomorrow’s high will only be -6°C. I won’t let that stop me. I’ve been indoors far too much the last few days, hiding from the frigid dark and fighting off a cold. I have to get out and stretch my legs. See the river. Feel my boots on dirt.
The forecast predicts 8 to 10 inches of snow on Sunday. Possibly as much as 18 inches. I’m about as prepared as I’m ever going to be. I have plenty of groceries, clean warm clothes, and extra blankets. Distilled water for the humidifiers. Bottled spring water for drinking. Milk. Coffee. All of my electronic devices are fully charged. I have three Maglites loaded with fresh batteries. A shovel. I guess that’s it, really.
My only concern is the power. I’ve never been through a heavy snowstorm at this house, so I don’t know how well the electricity holds up. I considered buying a generator, just in case, but figured someone would have mentioned if a generator was something I should expect to need. It’s not like I’m out in the country.
