My Blog Does Music Again Now
Leaving social media has freed up a lot of time—well, that and not cleaning my apartment today. The place is a mess, but chores are no fun. Meanwhile, writing code and drinking beer is super fun. I used some of my newfound free time to kill a few cans and take a first pass at adding music back to the blog.
The challenge is that embedded video players allow Facebook, Google, et al., to track your movements and associations across The Web.1 So, the first iteration here is just to formalize how videos are added to the content and then create big, bold link-outs to YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
The next iteration will allow users to opt into embedded video players. They’re convenient and fun, but only if you’re willing to accept the compromise on personal privacy. I estimate the full solution will be ready in a few days, but let’s call it Friday.
